"The overall clinical payments to physicians increased at just over nine per cent this past year in Alberta, to about $3.4 billion." - Doctor Walter Feeney.
Alberta has one of the largest populations in Canada, with 241 doctors to 100,000 citizens. The payment for doctors in Alberta is above the national average. With larger populations there is more need for doctors, this shouldn't surprise anyone. Our physicians are compensated just like many other fields. Although our doctors are very important, we should also be cutting down on healthcare costs like Ontario (APP). It is shocking how much our doctors are making and that they make more than Ontario doctors. With cutting down on these costs we could put the money elsewhere.
